My Star Wars history

One of the good things my father did was make me an OG Star Wars fan.  One evening he gave me large hard cover comic book; it was around 1976.  The book had some very cool illustrated pictures of science fiction space stuff.  This was a copy of the Original Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars Concepts George Lucas had commissioned him to make.  The pictures very interesting, being interested in Art, I saw it as just an artistic comic book.  Some time passed, when one particular day, the principal came and pulled me out of class.  Saying my father was in the front office, here to take me to a doctor’s appointment.  Immediately knowing that was a lie, being a very sick child, only my mother took me to any and all my doctors.  True enough my father was here in her office, to take me out of school, this just made me very confused.  After leaving school campus, I asked him, ‘What Doctor?’  When we pulled into NorthPark mall and parked near the 2-screen movie theater, oh boy I was really confused, he had not answered my question to this point.  The date was May 25th, 1977, around 1p.m. and I was only 7 years old.  When the movie started, he and I were in a nearly empty theater, maybe ten others total.  When the movie started, I was one of the first kids to see ‘A New Hope’ on opening day.  When the movie was over, we walked out around 3-4pm and the line for the next showing wrapped clear around the entire building just to get tickets.  I stopped and asked him, are they all here to see that movie, he acknowledged yes.  This started a tradition for me only, every opening day of all the Star Wars movies, I saw alone in the middle of the afternoon, seeing every single one, like a private screening just for me.

The overall theme of Star Wars really mimics my own life.  My own father was like Anakin Skywalker Jedi, until the dark side seduced him, killing the father I loved, ‘From a Certain Point of View’.  The years after I chased after him, hoping to see the good left in him, except there was no good side left, he had indeed murdered my father.  The Dark side has been calling me the same way most of my life.  Even learned martial arts and fighting with sword, kind of like my own Jedi training.

Used my Jedi Training and became a night security officer, fighting the dark side in society
