This is exactly what I wrote in the journal.

West Wing Scene ‘You Remind Me of The Man That Lived by the River’

The Arron Sorkin written television show ‘The West Wing’ is one of the best ever written shows.  Since beginning this journal, one scene for WW keeps passing thru my memory, pushing me to include this…The West Wing Season 1 Episode ‘Take This Sabbath Day’.

The Democratic President was debating staying the execution of South American drug dealer/murderer.  The really funny twist was at the actual timeline, A Republican from Texas, was the sitting President of the U.S., would not have had this debate.  For those who don’t get that, while most states were changing stance against executing criminals, Texas installed an ‘Express Lane’, as Ron White liked to joke.

The following was from the Pastor: Father Thomas Cavanaugh talking to POTUS Bartlett near the end of the Episode…

You remind me of the man that lived by the river. He heard a radio report that the river was going to rush up and flood the town, and that the all the residents should evacuate their homes.

But the man said, “I’m religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me.”

The waters rose up. A guy in a rowboat came along and he shouted, “Hey, hey you, you in there. The town is flooding. Let me take you to safety.” But the man shouted back, “I’m religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me.”

A helicopter was hovering overhead and a guy with a megaphone shouted, “Hey you, you down there. The town is flooding. Let me drop this ladder and I’ll take you to safety.” But the man shouted back that he was religious, that he prayed, that God loved him, and that God will take him to safety.

Well… the man drowned. And standing at the gates of St. Peter he demanded an audience with God. “Lord,” he said, “I’m a religious man, I pray, I thought you loved me. Why did this happen?” God said, “I sent you a radio report, a helicopter and a guy in a rowboat. What the hell are you doing here?”

The Reason God wanted this scene inserted

This one scene is meant to point out the purpose of this story.  We are all waiting for a sign from God Himself, God uses his hand to save our life.  God sent help, the man by the river MISSED the help God sent.

West Wing Summary.  This book is full of all the signs God has sent me, like the man by the river.  I did notice those signs, and followed, giving my life to God, to do Gods Work, and this is the purpose of my entire life, to bring people back to God, God just gave me a little spurt of good feeling rush as I wrote that last sentence.  Been looking for God to strike me down with a bolt of lightning every single time I talk as God, instead, he is pushing a warm feeling thru my chest, of doing the right thing.  God sent me to save you!!  This is your radio report, man in rowboat, and the helicopter sent to rescue you, all I one journal.

The point to talking about this episode, is to imply ‘you the reader’ are the man or woman by the river, this book is your ‘Radio Report’, ‘Rowboat’, and ‘Helicopter’.

The point to talking about this WW episode, is to imply ‘you the readers’ are the man by the river.  This Book is your ‘Radio Report’, ‘Rowboat’, and ‘Helicopter’.  God put this thought to use this scene, put the thought into my head as I was writing, several times reminding me from the beginning, until I inserted it here.   God really wanted this WW reference.
